School Days

Neither of the kids have been too thrilled about going to school lately and we think they’ve been more unsettled by our move from Carlipa than we thought. Last week we had a chance to speak to our School Director about how they were going at school. He was standing out the front of the school having a cigarette. We greeted him with a handshake. It’s all very formal. He is a lovely man who obviously loves teaching and loves the kids. We somehow managed to convey to him that the kids were not too happy at school and we wondered if there was something they could do to help them abit more with their school work. He said he’d noticed them around the school and Samuel seemed to be happy and smiling but Ella was sad. Monsieur Lanas said he’d speak to the teachers to see what they could come up with.

So today when we picked up the kids after school they told us they had been placed in another class with a female teacher for an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon. The teacher speaks English as well as French. She gave them some homework. Ella was ecstatic. She loves learning and reading and writing. Samuel was not as thrilled but I think they were both relieved to be getting some help in class.
