Cassis and La Ciotat 1 June 2009

Frigo and Ella

We stopped at Cassis this morning on the way to La Ciotat. Cassis is a gorgeous little seaside village with expensive looking resort style shops and lots of boats in the harbour. It kind of reminded me of Banyuls and Collioure near Barcelona. We had breakfast in a café overlooking the mariner and watched people going by.

At La Ciotat, we couldn’t check into our apartment till 4 o’clock so we parked the car strategically in the apartment carpark (reversed in so you couldn’t open the boot) and went down to the beach for a couple of hours. Samuel hurt his knee on a rock when he slipped over. He’s so dramatic when he’s injured but then he gets over it quickly.

The apartment we booked turned out to be great value with 2 bedrooms and a kitchenette which suits us because we can organise our own food if we want to.

We’ve had 3 days of our car being chockablock full of stuff since we left Cavaillon and we realise we can’t possibly travel around lugging this much stuff in and out of the car and hotels all the time. This morning I had another repack and have had to be ruthless and toss out more things which we won’t be using anymore.

We’re staying here for 2 days so we can go enjoy the beach. Daniela and Frigo (her faithful friend) came down from L’Isle to go to the beach with us. It was a hot day but the water was still very cold.
