Mother's Day - 10 May 2009

It’s Mother’s Day in Australia today. I didn’t realise Mother’s Day was on different days in different parts of the world. Funny! In France it’s on 31 May and in UK, it’s in March. Why wouldn’t it just be on the same day everywhere and who gets to decide when it is anyway? These are the important questions of the day.

So anyway, being Mother’s Day, we decided to go out for lunch. We never go out for lunch when we’re at home in Cavaillon maybe because we eat out so much when we’re travelling and it’s easier (and cheaper) to cook and eat at home.

So we had google directions from Guy and Decima (our landlords) to a restaurant that Decima had been to recently which she recommended would suit a family. The directions led us to a restaurant at Pernes les Fountains but not the restaurant that Decima went to. We decided to stay and have lunch there anyway. After we’d finished lunch we went for a drive and found Decima's restaurant a short distance away. Andrew came home and straightaway googled the directions himself and printed them out to show Guy. We might go back there next week. It’s a bit unusual because it has a small lake beside it with a little beach which would be nice for the kids to play on and have a swim.

We’ve been home for a week and we’ve been lolling around doing nothing. Andrew is going mad with boredom. We're all travelled out after two weeks away but we still get bored sitting around at home. I don't know what it's going to be like settling back into the real world when we return to Australia in a couple of months. Now we need to start planning our sortie from Cavaillon in three weeks time. The kids haven’t had canteen lunch this week because we’ve run out of tickets and we haven’t been up to the mairie to buy more. So we’ve been picking them up for lunch every day which takes a big chunk out of the day.
